My Kurig is now a thing of the past as I have found my first electric kettle, and I absolutely love it! Since I no longer drink coffee, I was only using the Kurig for water for teas anyway. The water heats up in less than 5 minutes. I even use it for boiled water if I’m making something on the stove. It’s faster than waiting for water to boil in a pot. And the automatic shut off is nice. I do believe now I’m converted to the electric kettle life rather than a coffee machine or traditional tea kettle.

With its easy-to-use design, the blue light indicator on this kettle is quite helpful in knowing when it cuts off. Not a complaint, but I would love to see the blue light change to red when the water boils. That way, with a glance, you could tell it is ready to use. Be careful and do not overfill because the handle is hollow and the boiling vapor and water will get into the handle and drip internally to the bottom and run out. This was purchased to make Sweet Tea and nothing else, and it is the perfect size to make 1 gallon of sweet tea. Fill the kettle with 1.8L of water and a teaspoon of baking soda. Turn it on and throw in 4-5 Tetley Teabags. Let the kettle come to a boil and it auto shuts off. Let it sit 10 – 15 minutes, pour into a gallon container, and add 2.5 cups of sugar. Fill with ice and water till the container is full. Perfect tea every time. Would buy again in a heartbeat.

Also, it doesn’t settle on the base as easily as my last one, so if I am off by even a bit, I have to fiddle with a hot and heavy kettle. It comes with so many extra parts like screens and infusion inserts I am not interested in; it’s just more clutter I would have preferred to opt out of.

This kettle is an excellent choice due to its temperature control feature. The temps are spot on. I temped them with a digital thermometer. However, it does take the kettle longer than normal to heat up. My old kettle took 3 minutes. This one takes closer to 5 minutes to boil. Keep that in mind when shopping for a kettle.

I brew loose leaf tea, and it works great. The only thing is the green tea temperature setting is 180 degrees, but the kettle settings are 175, 185, 195, 200, and 212, with no 180 option. I just set it to 185 and let it cool a bit before brewing my green tea. Black teas are at a temperature of 212, so it’s perfect for them. It is compact and heats fast. A great addition for a small space or office.
